Mount
Dandenong Tourist road commences at Canterbury Road Kilsyth and slowly
meanders up through the villages of Kalorama, Sassafras, Ferny Creek to
Upper Ferntree Gully near Belgrave.
This is a pleasant drive with
the road flanked with tree ferns and tall eucalyptus rain forest gums and
pockets of colourful old English deciduous trees in autumn.
Mt.
Dandenong has a tourist lookout which overlooks the eastern suburbs of
Melbourne and the city centre in the far distant. It is a great
sight as as the sunsets in the west and the lights of Melbourne and the
suburbs come on.
